Incubus discuss new album

Californian alternative rock stalwarts Incubus continue to work on their new studio album, with guitarist Mike Einzinger commenting on the current progress.

Speaking with noted publication Billboard, the musician offered insights into the follow-up to 2011's 'If Not Now, When?' Included in the statements, Einzinger said the band is "[going] in a different direction."

"We had a whole bunch of music put together and then we kind of pushed it to the side and said, "Let's just go in a different direction and try new things." So we're in this great place where we're feeling really creative and have a lot of new material. Whatever the album ends up being, it will be great because we have so many songs to work with," he told the news outlet.

Equally, reading from the Tool response manual, the guitarist also said no timeline has been scheduled for the upcoming full-length.

"The idea was to put something out before this summer and tour this summer but we didn't want to force it. We really wanted to take our time and make the best music that we possibly could. We just didn't want to repeat ourselves and get trapped in sort of a formulaic delivery system, which is easy to [fall into], especially when you've been doing this as long as we have. So we've just been exploring all kinds of different musical avenues. It's been really enlightening and fun."
