UNIFY Q&A: Deez Nuts

Inaugural two-day musical festival, UNIFY takes place this January.

The likes of The Amity Affliction, Thy Art Is Murder, Northlane, and more will converge on South Gippsland.

We get the bands to answer some quick-fire questions for us, continuing with Deez Nuts’ Real Bad.

What are you most looking forward to about UNIFY?

Just being back in Australia in general, and the amount of friends in one place! It’s gonna be so sick.

Three essential albums for any camping trip

Well I don’t camp, ever, so I’ll just give three albums I love.

Poison The Well- You Come Before You (prob my favorite ever)

Essential items for the festival rider

Water, booze, weed, food, toilet paper.  Your own little porter potty would be sick too ‘cause shitting at these festivals sucks.

Which band member would have the best survival skills if stranded in the bush?

That’s hard to say. I’d like to think myself.  Alex is a man of nature so maybe him as well.  Sean would get eaten by animals because he’s just so nice and cute.

 Which bands song will become the eventual anthem for UNIFY?

Who knows? If I’m as high as I was the last time I saw The Amity Affliction perform "The Weigh Down" then that will definitely be MY anthem (laughs).

Best thing about music festivals?

Being backstage. (laughs).  I’ve done so many festivals I don’t know how someone can just stand there all day and night! But in reality, festivals are sick ways to get so many bands that maybe normally wouldn’t play together, together. In the case of Unify as well, that’s a lot of good Australian talent in one place.

Worst mistake you can make at a festival?

Waiting to shit. Go in the morning, I’m telling you.

Hypothetical: it’s 40 degrees and you need sunscreen. You can only obtain it if you trade in all the alcohol in your rider. Which do you choose and why?

You choose the rider. Fuck a sunburn, they go away. You wanna have some sunscreen and be bored, or get fucked up and have a burn? The choice is yours my friend!
