UNIFY Q&A: Hellions

Inaugural two-day musical festival, UNIFY takes place this January.

The likes of The Amity Affliction, Thy Art Is Murder, Northlane, and more will converge on South Gippsland.

We get the bands to answer some quick-fire questions for us, continuing with Hellions' Anthony Caruso.

What are you most looking forward to about UNIFY?

It is very rare that this amount of friends are ever in the same place (or country) at the same time, so we are very much looking forward to a few days of havoc with a bunch of good people. I can't leave out actually playing though, the festival will be great and playing outdoors is always a good time!

Three essential albums for any camping trip

1. Dr Dre - The Chronic: 2001 (to start the vibe)

2. Kanye West & Jay Z - Watch The Throne (at the peak)

3. The Neighbourhood - I Love You. (for the chill)

Essential items for the festival rider

Alcohol is a given - some gin, spiced rum, whiskey and beer. Red Bull, water (for health), Gatorade, corn chips, salsa and a LOT of hummus... a lot.

Which band member would have the best survival skills if stranded in the bush?

I think Dre would, as long as he had access to a particular kind of bush.

Which bands song will become the eventual anthem for UNIFY?

I have a feeling the 'White Joel Birch' track is going to become quite a hit around the festival grounds.

Best thing about music festivals?

The music and the way it can bring people of all shapes and sizes together.

Worst mistake you can make at a festival?

Either not drinking enough water, or dumping all of your illicit substances in your gob at the first sight of a sniffer dog.

Hypothetical: it’s 40 degrees and you need sunscreen. You can only obtain it if you trade in all the alcohol in your rider. Which do you choose and why?

I would choose the to keep the rider because you can always seek out some shade but if it was an emergency, I would trade the alcohol, take the sunscreen and move in on someone else's rider. Basically we win either way.
