What bands are you looking forward to seeing at Progfest?

Voyager especially, their live show is incredibly fun and they’re some of my favourite people in the country. And, of course, our QLD brothers in HELM are not to be missed. Thundering heavy oceans of awesome.

Why should an attendee check out your band during the evening?

Because Zac is handsome and one time he let me touch his beard. It could happen to you…In all seriousness, it’s going to be large, loud and energetic as fuck, get amongst it.

How important is an event like Progfest to the local scene?

Progfest has been a mainstay of the alternative side of the Australian music scene for some time now, and we love it. It’s like a yearly celebration of not just the artists creating the music they love, but of the immense support from our fans all around the country. It’s like the prog and alternative scene has a birthday bash every year.

What is your all-time favourite “prog” album?

Depends on how you define “prog” I guess, but let’s not get into "that" annoying discussion, (laughs). While I don’t tend to have favourites, depending on the day it could be “Fables from a Mayfly: What I Tell You Three Times is True” by Fair to Midland, “Lateralus” by Tool or even Devin Townsend’s “Terria” (that or pretty much anything in his catalogue.) Depends on what’s in my current rotation…

If you could cover any classic “prog” song, what would it be?

I know a lot of people wouldn’t call it “prog” or whatever, but I really couldn’t give a shit. I’ve always wanted to cover “Grace” by Jeff Buckley. Such a killer song… and album.

What’s the essential attire for an event like Progfest?

Clothing. At least to begin with.

Pink Floyd or Rush?

Let’s not play this game. They’re both great in their own way and I really don’t think anyone cares which I prefer.

Genesis or Yes?

Peter fucking Gabriel.

Tool or Dream Theater?

A goat’s hoof nailed to a board.

What three celebrities would you love to see in the pit at Progfest?

As long as they’re enjoying it and getting sweaty with everyone else, I don’t care.

Caligula’s Horse play the Melbourne leg on August 30 at the Espy.
