In a saga that just never seems to end, now defunct The Dangerous Summer‘s Cody Payne has responded to claims he has stolen money from ex-bandmate AJ Perdomo.
Payne responds saying that the claims are "nothing more than a false accusation", and goes as far as to say that he and Perdomo parted as "brothers".
You can read the full statement from Cody below.
Fans and friends,
When The Dangerous Summer broke up last September, I walked away from that band not realizing anything was wrong. I was so happy for AJ – he was married to the love of his life, he was becoming a new father and I was nothing but happy for him. We hugged and it was over. That break up was one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to deal with in my life. Yes, we may have had some issues as a band and said things we didn’t mean, but we were brothers.
It’s been 9 months and things between us have obviously completely went in the opposite direction. I know I am not innocent, but the rumors are getting out of hand and they need to stop. One minute I’m sitting at home working on music, the next minute I read online that I am stealing money from my ex bandmate’s bank account. This is nothing more than a false accusation. I do not have the ability nor the knowledge to be able to hack into one’s bank account and steal money. I do not have the time it takes to learn how to hack into someone’s bank account. If you chose to believe the rumors, so be it, but I just wanted to set the record straight.
I have missed The Dangerous Summer. I have missed making music. I am currently writing my first record for my new project, Floodlove, which I’m hoping to release to you all in the fall. I want to thank the fans and my friends that have still stuck around and have been there for me, regardless of the rumors and breakups that have happened and are happening. My music means everything to me, and I will continue to fight through the hardships and will, going forward, do my best to ignore the negative things that are said about me. I am not in high school and I am bigger than this.
