The annual Push Over Festival is set to take place on Sunday March 7th and we caught up with Melbourne's Built On Secrets to chat about it all...

Let's start with your name and what you do in the band?

My name is Rich & I play guitar in Built On Secrets.

Tell us a bit about how you guys got together?

We all sort of knew each other through mutual friends & a few of us had played together in bands prior to this, so it was a natural progression/coming together.

How would you describe your sound to someone who has never heard you before?

We get commonly referred to as ambient rock, so think somewhere along the lines of Saosin/Circa Survive

When and why did you decide you wanted to play music?

Music has been a passion for as long as I can remember, I started stealing my brother's guitar at 13 and realized I wasn't 'that' terrible at it & ever since playing music has been a great way to spend time with my friends.

What are you most looking forward to about playing Push Over 2010?

Well, Push Over has always been renowned as a massive day. The times in which I've attended, the audience has been there to purely have fun and enjoy the music. Also, 2010 Push Over hosts a great array of bands. What's not to look forward to?

Any particular bands you would like to see on the bill?

The bands I'm particularly looking forward to seeing are Break Even, City Escape, Heroes For Hire, Kisschasy, Lovers Grave, The Mission In Motion and Young Heretics. I'm also a fan of Horrorshow so I'm keen to check them out too.

What is the best thing about playing an all ages festival like Push Over?

I'd go as far as saying that All Ages shows are often the most fun to play. Everyone is there to hang out, check out the bands and to just have an all around good time.

What motivates the band to play music?

The excitement and accomplishment of making something that is your own. Being on stage with the rest of the band and seeing someone singing along, or even people just coming up just to say hi, really reiterates why we love playing/making music.

What can people expect from your live show?

A tight, energetic show, with 5 guys trying to have as much fun a possible.

Tell us what the band has planned for 2010?

2010 is shaping up to be a big year. We will be releasing our yet to be titled debut EP, which will then hopefully be followed by as many shows/tours as possible. Basically, we will be spending the year trying our hardest to get our name out there to everyone.

What was the last album you put on your iPod and how did you get into the band?

Oceana - Birth.Eater. Eli who also plays guitar in the band is always up to date with all the good new bands, so he normally points me in the right direction.

Which member has the most annoying habit?

Probably Jeff, because he doesn't want to hang out anymore.

What is your favourite Die Hard movie?

The third one does have Samuel L Jackson in it, but how can you go wrong with the first one, the bad guys name is Hans and it's Alan Rickman.
