‘Scarlet’ Fever Continues With Doja Cat At #1 For A Fifth Week Straight

Paint the Town Red for Doja Cat walks on by for a fifth week at #1 in Australia, while her new album just dropped.

Scarlet is the name of the fourth studio album by Doja Cat which was issued on Friday (Sept. 22nd), containing this current #1 song, as well as the albums two other releases, initial single Attention (HP-30, June 26th) and most recent drop Demons (HP-77, Sept. 11th). Of the eight #1 songs for 2023 so far, Paint the Town Red's fifth week at the singles-summit makes it the four longest running #1 for this year, plus the track remains and regains the top spot in New Zealand (sixth week), Canada, England (third week), Ireland (returns for a third week) and it dips to #2 in The U.S.A. and #4 in Germany (after peaking at #2 there last week).

Last week Olivia Rodrigo saw her twelve album tracks from her second album Guts all gain a Top 40 entry, while this week her album remains as the top selling set in Australia, and the album's lead single vampire remains at #2 locally, while the song did a similar chart-jump in both The U.S.A. and Canada this past week, with the song leaping from #9 to #1 in the U.S. for a second overall week at #1 there, and from #8 to #2 in Canada, helped by her album debuting at #1 in both locales. Olivia's four Top 10 entries last week have been reduced back to the solo-vampire track, which means a resurgence of songs back up the chart this week, with single place rebounds for both Cruel Summer by Taylor Swift and Last Night by Morgan Wallen to #3 and #4 respectively.

The highest new entry comes in at #5 this week; greedy for Tate McRae, which by debuting in that position becomes her second Top 10 and highest charted song in Australia, surpassing the #7 peak of her first entry You Broke Me First (peaked Nov. 23rd, 2020), and her first Top 20 berth since she teamed with Tiësto for 10:35 (HP-13, Jan. 30th, 2023). This is now her eleventh Top 100 entry in Australia, and the song has also debuted at #1 in Norway, #3 in New Zealand, #4 in Ireland, #6 in Iceland, #7 in The Netherlands and at #8 in both England and Sweden.

Jumping up twenty-four places this week to land at #6 for it's first week within the Top 10 is the Kenya Grace three-week-old entry Strangers (which scored a sped-up version recently), with the track also soaring in England (12 to #3), Ireland (13 to #5), New Zealand (6 to #2) and Canada (58 to #46), while it hasn't entered the U.S. charts as yet. The other track which climbs into the Top 10 this week is Prada for cassö x RAYE x D-Block Europe, becoming the first ever Top 10 for both the producer and the group, while for RAYE this is her second after she made it to #3 for three weeks from Jan. 23rd with Escapism. Prada is also within the Top 5 in England (#4, new peak), Ireland (#3 on hold, HP-2), Germany (#2, new peak) and climbs in New Zealand (40 to #30).

The final rising track within the Top 10 this week is the Dua Lipa Barbie soundtrack entry Dance the Night, up one spot to #7, while dropping are Sprinter for Dave and Central Cee, down two places to #9, followed by a single gear-shift to #10 for Luke Combs' Fast Car, which could be it's last week within the Top 10.

TOP 20:

The only two songs on hold within the Top 20 this week are both by Zach Bryan, who remains at his peak of #11 for a third straight week with his duet with Kasey Musgraves I Remember Everything, while his three-weeks-at-#12 peaking track Something in the Orange doesn't budge from #16.

Olivia Rodrigo leaves the Top 10 with both bad idea right? (3 to #13, WI10-2a), and get him back! (6 to #14, WI10-1), with a seven place rebound to #17 for the Rema and Selena Gomez track Calm Down, while the only other rising track inside the Top 20 is Flowers for Miley Cyrus to #18. Dropping down are Popular for The Weeknd (12 to #15) and Billie Eilish with What Was I Made for? (14 to #19).

TOP 30:

NEW PEAK: sees the SZA track Snooze leap up forty-one places to score a new peak of #21 (former peak #45 on Sept. 4th), helped by two factors, an acoustic remix of the track with Justin Bieber and also her debut at #12 this week on the new Drake entry, with the song also jumping in England (48 to #18), Ireland (re-entry at #29) and New Zealand (31 to #5), all new peaks in those regions.

The third and final Top 10 dropout is the fourth and final Olivia Rodrigo entry to the ten from last week in all-american bitch, which falls twenty places this week to #30, while the only other declining track within the Top 30 is Daylight for David Kuschner, down two places to #22. Jumping back up are Riptide by Vance Joy (31 to #24), I Ain't Worried for OneRepublic (37 to #27) and The Kind of Love We Make for Luke Combs (35 to #28).

TOP 40:

The only track scoring a new sales certification within the Top 50 this week is the Troye Sivan song Rush, which is back up five places to #31 and newly Gold (●) in sales, while he also just issued his new single on Friday called Got Me Started (which samples Shooting Stars for Bag Raiders). Also jumping back up are Glass Animals' Heat Waves (45 to #33), As it Was by Harry Styles (41 to #34), Dreams for Fleetwood Mac (43 to #36) and Mr. Brightside for The Killers (51 to #40). The fifth and final Top 50 entry this week (from twelve last week) for Olivia Rodrigo sees the track the grudge drop down twenty-five places to #38.

TOP 50:

Taylor Swift has her highest placed single this week at #26 with Anti-Hero, while she has two further Top 50 entries this week in Karma (#45, half-year on the charts) and Style (53 to #46). Also rising within the Top 50 are Peggy Gou with (it goes like) Nanana (46 to #41), Boy's a Liar (pt.2) for PinkPantheress and Ice Spice (48 to #44), Miracle by Calvin Harris and Ellie Goulding (60 to #48) and Sure Thing by Miguel (55 to #50).

FURTHER NEW ENTRY:

* #12 - Slime You Out by Drake feat. SZA (OVO Sound/Republic) is the second single from the now-October 6th due new album for the Canadian rapper called For All the Dogs (it was due out Sept. 22nd, but has been changed to early October instead), with the lead issued track being Search & Rescue (HP-8, April 17th, 2023). The song has also landed a first week on the charts in England (#10), Ireland (#13), New Zealand (#9), Iceland (#8), Norway and The Netherlands (both #19).
