More Ocean Alley More Ocean Alley

Ocean Alley have leapt to #16 on this week’s ARIA Singles Chart after their 2018 single, Confidence, recently went viral on TikTok.

Their #16 space follows last week’s position at #40, which is still significant considering the song is five years old and means that fans discovering Ocean Alley on TikTok are listening to and buying their music.

Ocean Alley are one of three Australian artists to make a dent on the ARIA Singles Chart this week. The psychedelic rockers are accompanied by Vance Joy’s 16-times Platinum 2013 single Riptide (#21) and Troye Sivan with Got Me Started at #43.

Elsewhere on this week’s ARIA Singles Chart, the Christmas onslaught has begun despite this week’s chart numbers being counted in the last week of November.

Mariah Carey’s All I Want For Christmas Is You has re-entered the ARIA Singles Chart Top 20 at #15, with Wham!’s Last Christmas at #30 and Brenda Lee’s Rockin’ Around The Christmas Tree at #42.

In case you missed it, last week, Ocean Alley’s Confidence landed in the Top 40 of the ARIA Singles Chart five years after its release. Confidence has found newfound fame and fans on TikTok thanks to the use of the song for the trend “behind every girl with incredible music taste”.

Confidence, which has already been certified six times Platinum, has experienced an enormous resurgence on digital streaming platforms, with the audience in the US overtaking Australia for the first time. Last week, the song’s streams had increased by 1060% and 2912% on Spotify and Apple Music, respectively.

On playlists, Confidence landed at #1 and #10 on Spotify's Viral 50 - USA and Viral 50 - Global. The single also entered the UK's Independent Single Breakers Chart #19.

The Music’s Stephen Green recently predicted Confidence going viral globally after finding the track increasing in views and uses on TikTok.

The Confidence resurgence follows a hugely successful year for Ocean Alley, who sold more than 42,000 tickets across their recent Australian tour, plus a further 35,000 tickets sold across 34 shows in the UK, Europe, North America and New Zealand.
