Morgan Wallen Clocks Seven Weeks At #1 On ARIA Singles Chart

Seven weeks at #1 for Last Night by Morgan Wallen, now the seventh longest-running chart-topper for this decade.

And by holding for a seventh week at #1 the Last Night track also helps Morgan Wallen to become the Solo Male Artist with the longest continual hold at the singles summit since Stay by The Kid LAROI and Justin Bieber logged fourteen consecutive weeks at #1 from July 19th, 2021. That track eventually accumulated 17 weeks at the top (3 further weeks in late Jan. 2022) becoming the longest stay (so far) this decade, with the list below showing the longest running #1s for the 2020s.

Last Night is also now one of 51 tracks that have spent seven weeks at #1 in Australia and the song has again held the top spot in The U.S.A. (7th week) and it also sits at #2 in Canada, #3 in New Zealand, returns to the Irish Top 10 at #9 and drops to #32 in England (HP-28). And the stability within the Top 10 affects six songs in total, with the top four all on hold, as Cupid for FIFTY FIFTY remains for a fourth week at #2 here and a fourth week at #1 in New Zealand, while former #1 Flowers by Miley Cyrus also scores a fourth stay at #3 followed by David Kushner and his Daylight track only spending a second week at its peak of #4, with the track flying high in England (#2), also on hold at #4 in Ireland and down to #4 in New Zealand (LW-3), while it sits at #5 in Germany and is on a slow trajectory (at the moment) in both The U.S.A. (53 to #52) and Canada (13 to #14).

Luke Combs hauls his cover of Fast Car (original peaked at #4 in 1988) up two places to a new peak of #5, and with Australia giving the song its first Top 10 berth anywhere, that has now been broken in both Canada (9 to #5) and The U.S.A. (11 to #9), while the track hasn't really charted well in New Zealand (TW-30-#34, HP-#30), England (TW 89-#84, HP-#54) and Ireland (TW-34-#38, HP-16 upon entry).

Luke's rise pushes down two tracks a single place each, with Boy's a Liar (pt.2) for PinkPantheress and Ice Spice followed by Kill Bill by SZA to #6 and #7 respectively, with the last two non-movers within the Top 10 being Die for You by The Weeknd and Ariana Grande at #8 and Until I Found You for Stephen Sanchez and Em Beihold at #10.

Landing its first week within the Top 10 by leaping up fourteen places to a new peak of #9 is last week's new entry from Lil' Durk and J. Cole and their track All My Life, which landed first week at #2 in The U.S.A. and #11 in Canada (matching its NZ position too) this past week. This track now becomes the first Top 10 in Australia for J. Cole, beating his former peak of #11 with My Life (May 2021) and the second for Lil' Durk, first as a lead artist, as he previously made it to #3 as a guest on the Drake track Laugh Now Cry Later (HP-3, August 2020), while Durk's new album Almost Healed dropped on Friday (May 26th).

TOP 20

NEW PEAK: The only track scoring a new peak within the Top 20 is the current English #1 (7th week) single for Calvin Harris and Ellie Goulding and Miracle, which here is up three places to #15, having previously gone as high as #16 on May 8th. The only other rising track within the twenty is Creepin' by Metro Boomin', The Weeknd and 21 Savage, which is back up two places to #13, logging its 11th of 25 weeks on the chart within the Top 20 (1 week in the Top 40 and 12 weeks inside the Top 10, peaking at #7 for two weeks on January 23rd and 30th).

Leaving the Top 10 for a fourth time is Taylor Swift's Anti-Hero (HP-1x6, WI10-26) which drops down two places to #11, followed by single place dips for both Harry Styles' As it Was and I Ain't Worried by OneRepublic to #12 and #14 respectively. Escapism. for RAYE and 070 Shake drops two to #16 and is newly certified 2x▲Platinum in sales, while Zach Bryan's Something in the Orange spends a fourth straight week of resting at #19.

TOP 30

NEW PEAKS: The duet for Ed Sheeran and Luke Combs with Life Goes On moves up eight places to a new chart height of #23, while a new entry from last week's lower fifty for Kali and Area Codes makes a twenty-two places jump this week to dial into #30, her debut single also rises in England (66 to #44), Ireland (28 to #24), New Zealand (29 to #27), The U.S.A. (54 to #33) and Canada (84 to #44), while the track interpolates the same-titled song for Ludacris and Nate Dogg (HP-83, peaked Jan. 28th, 2002).

Also jumping into the Top 30 this week is the almost three-year-old entry for Glass Animals and Heat Wave, up nine to #25, while the new #1 Album for Lewis Capaldi this week with his second set Broken by Desire to Be Heaven Sent sees its latest issued track Wish You the Best (HP-23) jump back up six spots to #27, with the only other rising track within this chart region being the current highest-placed Australian track, 2013's Riptide by Vance Joy. Ed Sheeran's Eyes Closed drops down nine places to #21, with four place drops for both Sure Thing by Miguel (20 to #24) and People for Libianca (and Becky G.) (22 to #26).

TOP 40

No new peaks from here onwards, as everything but the new entry within the Top 40 drops downwards, starting with the next Ed Sheeran track and Shivers, falling six to #31, while George Ezra misses out on his next Top 10 entry as Green Green Grass slides down nine to #33, followed by 10:35 for Tiësto and Tate McRae (26 to #34) and See You Again by Tyler, the Creator with Kali Uchis (different Kali than the one sitting at #30), down seven to #35. The Sam Smith and Kim Petras former #1 Unholy declined six spots to #38, and the track is now certified at 5x▲Platinum.

TOP 50

Every week but the first of 2023 has seen The Weeknd track Save Your Years sitting between #46 and #38, and now in its 2-year-and-20-week chart run, it holds at #41, with the only other non-mover within the Top 50 being Snooze for SZA at #47 for a second week. I'm Good (Blue) for David Guetta and Bebe Rexha drops into the Top 50 for the first time in its 39 week chart run, down five to #43, with other big declines being seen by Labrinth and Billie Eilish with Never Felt So Alone (40 to #48) and the third and final Ed Sheeran Top 50 entry Bad Habits, down seven to #49 in its 100th week within the Top 100 (99th week within the Top 50, as it only ever dropped out once on January 2nd 2023 to #64).

NEW ENTRIES

* #20 - Say Yes to Heaven by Lana Del Rey (Polydor/Interscope) is a track originally recorded during Lana's third studio album Ultraviolence (2014) and issued recently after the track went viral on TikTok, while a sped-up version is also garnering traction for the single. The new entry for Lana Del Rey becomes her second to chart this decade, but first as a solo artist, as she guest sang on the Taylor Swift track Snow on the Beach (HP-3, Oct. 31st 2022), while overall this is Lana's twelfth Top 50 entry (10 as lead, 2 as guest) and her first solo entry since May 2017's Lust for Life (HP-44) featuring The Weeknd.

* #39 - Padam Padam by Kylie Minogue (Darenote/BMG UK) is the lead single from her forthcoming sixteenth studio album Tension (due Sept. 22nd) by the Aussie singer, and her first Top 50 entry since she peaked at #44 in early January 2022 with her Santa Baby (first charted at #85, Dec, 27th, 2010), while her last three Top 50 chart entries were Dancing (HP-46, late Jan. 2018), Beautiful (with Enrique Iglesias, HP-47, April 2014) and Into the Blue (HP-46, Feb. 2014), and her last Top 30 (or higher) appearance was with Timebomb (HP-12, June 2012) and overall since Kylie's debut in 1987 she has now amassed 58 Top 100 entries. The track has also landed its first week in England (#26) and Ireland (#36).

* #50 - Mourning by Post Malone (Mercury/Republic) is the second single lifted from the July 28th due fifth album for the U.S. rapper called Austin (his real name), which comes six weeks after the album's first single Chemical (TW #28) debuted and peaked at #14 (April 24th, 2023), with this new track also landing at #31 first week in both Ireland and New Zealand, #35 in England and its highest position at the moment of #27 in Norway.
