Doja Cat Scores A Ninth Week At #1 With 'Paint The Town Red', Troye Sivan Tops Albums Chart

Paint The Town Red makes its ninth week with a tally similar to its debut week (12k). With a new redone Taylor Swift album due next Friday (1989 Taylor's Version), we could see a track from that album dethrone Doja Cat, which could mean she lasts for a tenth week next week, which the track achieves this week in New Zealand, and the song loses the top spot in both The U.S.A. and Canada to two different Drake tracks from his new album (more on that later). 

And with a ninth week at the top, Red becomes the equal fifth longest #1 run for this decade, matching the nine broken weeks achieved by Kate Bush's Running Up That Hill in 2022, plus Doja Cat's track also becomes one of 29 tracks (since 1940) to have spent nine weeks at the top, and for this decade Doja Cat is now equal eighth for 'Most Weeks at No.1: Singles (2020's) (alongside Kate Bush), while just ahead of the pair is Taylor Swift with nine weeks from her four #1's this decade. 

Tate McRae stays for a third consecutive week at #2 with her greedy single, which also holds at #2 in Ireland, its #3 peak in England and drops to #4 in New Zealand (LW-2). Taylor Swift is #1 this week at the Australian Box Office, as her live concert film The Eras Tour took in $2.4 million at the domestic box office last week, which has pulled a heap of her tracks back up the chart, starting with her seventeen week running Top 10 entry Cruel Summer, back up five places to #3 this week. 

The new #1 Dance single locally, a first-week #1 in Germany, and the fourth-week running Irish #1 single is Prada by cassö x RAYE x D-Block Europe, which locally moves up one place to a new peak of #4 after three weeks of sitting at #5, with the track also scoring a new rise in New Zealand (18 to #12), all of which was helped this past week by a new remix by David Guetta and Hypaton, after which is the second-week running #1 in England, Strangers for Kenya Grace, which here is down two places to #5 after having peaked at #2 four weeks ago. 

Zach Bryan issued a physical edition of his self-titled album this past week, which has helped it to jump back into the Top 10 Albums chart (14 to #7), while he also scored two Top 10 entries this week, both of which are up to new chart heights. His Kasey Musgrave duet I Remember Everything is up one spot to #6, while his 66-week charted song Something In The Orange finally cracks the ten for the first time by rising three places to land at #8. 

The second country artist within the Top 10 is Morgan Wallen with his former #1 single, Last Night, rebounding three places to #7 thanks to the new Drake tracks from last week declining back down the chart, while its 34th week within the Top 10 is now the equal eighth longest of all time in Australia, matching the track Shivers by Ed Sheeran (2021/22). 

The second track to break into the Top 10 for the first time is the debut single for South African singer Tyla and Water, which moves up two places to #9, while the song also reaches new peaks in England (7 to #4), Ireland (18 to #6), New Zealand (4 to #2) and The U.S.A. (67 to #63). And after one week outside of the Top 10, the Olivia Rodrigo track vampire is back up two places to #10 for a fifteenth week within the ten. 

TOP 20: 

NEW PEAKS occur for the Mitski track My Love Mine All Mine, up ten places to #20, prior to which is a sixteen-place leap to #19 for the Drake track with Sexyy Red and SZA Rich Baby Daddy, the only rising track from his latest album For All the Dogs (TW-2), while his three Top 10 debuts last week exit the ten this week with the new U.S.A. #1 single First Person Shooter down four places to #14, followed by the new Canadian #1 debut IDGAF, which drops six places to #15 here, while his third in Virginia Beach departs the Top 50 falling forty-two spots to #51. 

With the Drake deluge from last week departing this week, most of the Top 50 rebounds, with four place rises for both Sprinter for Dave with Central Cee and Fast Car by Luke Combs to #11 and #12, respectively. The Vance Joy track Riptide is back up five places to #18, a new peak during its chart comeback from May of this year, having previously graced the Top 20 on one previous occasion, #20 on October 2nd. 

TOP 30: 

No new peaks within the Top 30, but a strange chart anomaly is that Troye Sivan has three back-to-back chart entries this week, thanks to his third studio album, Something To Give Each Other, debuting at #1 on this week's Albums Chart. The album's lead single, Rush, leaps up seventeen places to land at #26, followed by its second entry, Got Me Started, which goes one better and rushes back up eighteen spots to #27, while the album's third single, One Of Your Girls makes its debut at #28, more on that track later on. 

Taylor Swift celebrates one year on the chart with both her album Midnights (also 52 weeks within the Top 10 too) and its former #1 single Anti-Hero, which is back up ten places this week to #23, either side of which are rising tracks for David Kushner and Daylight, Miley Cyrus and Flowers to #21 and #22 respectively, while Dreams for Fleetwood Mac floats back up seven places to #24. 

TOP 40: 

NEW PEAK occurs for the Doja Cat track Agora Hills, which four weeks ago debuted at #35 and now this week it rebounds nineteen places to land at a new peak of #31, becoming the last peaking track within the Top 50 this week, while her teaming with SZA on Kill Bill moves back up five places to #37. 

Harry Styles rebounds six places to #33 with As It Was; Olivia Rodrigo has two Top 40 entries, which are declining, get him back! (29 to #34) and bad idea right? (32 to #38), while two long-running entries make their return to the Top 40, Heat Waves for Glass Animals (47 to #39) (something which is already affecting this country again) and Mr. Brightside by The Killers (46 to #40).

TOP 50: 

The second act within the Top 50 who scores three back-to-back entries is Taylor Swift, who sees three older tracks rebounding: Style (62 to #42), Karma (55 to #43) and Blank Space (63 to #44), while she also sees three lower fifty rises for Lover (re-entry at #60), Shake it Off (96 to #65) and Don't Blame Me (returns at #88), all moving back up thanks to her concert movie opening last week. 

Drake saw all 23 tracks from his new album For All The Dogs debut between #1 and #42 in The U.S.A. this past week, while here we saw 19 of the 23 tracks land within the Top 100, and now this week, fourteen of those songs leave the Top 100 (#17 and Calling for You is the highest dropout) this week, with his third and final entry from the album within the Top 50 this week being Slime You Out, which falls back down thirty-three places to land at #46 this week. 

NEW ENTRY:

* #28 - One of Your Girls by Troye Sivan (EMI Australia) is the third issued track from his new album Something To Give Each Other, which lands at #1 on the local Albums Chart, debuting at #2 in New Zealand, #4 in England at #13 in Ireland. And like here, those three territories also see jumps for this and his album's first two singles, with Rush up in England (34 to #27, HP-21), Ireland (21 to #17, HP-8) and New Zealand (#40 re-entry), then Got Me Started moves up in both England (50 to #36, HP-34) and Ireland (45 to #38, HP-28), while this new tracks debuts higher in Ireland (#11) and at #17 in both England and New Zealand, with the clip for the track also featuring Troye in drag for the first time within one of his videos.

ALBUM CHARTIFACTS

Something To Give Each Other (EMI Australia) becomes the 991st #1 Album in Australia (1965 to 2023), the 842nd for ARIA (1983 to 2023), the 622nd to debut at the top, the 30th #1 Album for 2023 and now the 32nd for EMI Records (since their first in 1981), while their last was with Meg Mac and Matter of Time (1 week on Sept. 26th, 2022). 

Eight years and one month ago, Troye Sivan saw his first and only previous #1 Album Chart entry in his EP Wild, which spent a week on top on the 14th of September, 2015. Now, with his third studio album under his belt, he scores his second-ever chart-topping album with his new set, which also takes out the #1 Vinyl Sales Spot as well the album sees its three issued singles all sit back-to-back this week in Rush (#26), Got Me Started (#27) and its third single which debuts this week; One Of Your Girls (#28). This also becomes his fifth Top 10 Album in Australia (made up of 3 studio albums and 2 EP's). 

Troye's new album also lands him his highest New Zealand appearance with a #2 entry this week, while the set also charts within the Top 10 in The Netherlands (#3), England (#4), Scotland, Lithuania (both #5), Belgium (#7), Norway and Germany (both #9), along with Top 20 placements in Ireland, Finland (both #13) and Sweden (#16). This is now the third album with a 'Something' in its title, the other two being Something To Remember for Madonna (Nov. 1995) and Something To Be by Rob Thomas (May 2005), whilst it's the first ever for the words 'Give', 'Each' and 'Other', plus his 4.5k in sales this week surpasses the 4.1k Drake achieved last week. 

This is the ninth #1 Album by an Australian act for 2023, with Kylie Minogue and Tension the last local artist at the top in locally (Oct. 2nd, TW-26 to #57; #19 Vinyl), while it's a third successive week for a Solo Male Artist at #1 in Australia after Drake last week and Ed Sheeran the previous week (TW-31 to #85). Overall, this is the 287th #1 set by a Solo Male Artist and the eleventh for 2023. Next week's battle for the #1 Album spot could be between The Rolling Stones and Blink-182, each issuing new albums on Friday, both their first releases for this decade. 

The new entry at the top last week for Drake and For All The Dogs dips one spot this week to #2, while it remains at the top for a second week in New Zealand and debuts at the top in both The U.S.A. and Canada this past week, with all 23 tracks from the album landing in the U.S. between #1 and #42, while locally the set is again the #1 Hip-Hop/R&B Album, after which is a single place drop also for the Olivia Rodrigo second set Guts (#9 Vinyl). 

25 years ago this week, the debut self-titled album for local act The Living End debuted at #1 (Oct. 26th, 1998), dropping the following week and then regaining the Albums summit on November 9th for a second and final stay at #1. Now, this week, the 25th Anniversary Edition of the album comes in at #4 to log an overall 28th week within the Top 10, while the set also lands at #4 on the Vinyl Sales and the #1 spot in the Catalogue Albums Chart, too.

Three artists occupy the final six places within the Top 10 this week, one of them with four albums, but up next is The Weeknd collection The Highlights, down one spot to #5, while jumping back into the Top 10, up seven places from last week to #7 (#3 Vinyl, #1 Country), it’s the self-titled album for Zach Bryan, which saw a physical release last week and now he lands two Top 10 Singles Chart entries as well with I Remember Everything (#6) and Something In the Orange (#8), both scoring new peaks in the process. 

Taylor Swift saw her first-ever #1 movie last week, as her live concert The Eras Tour topped the local box office ($2.4 million), which has pulled all of her entries back up the chart this week, starting with Midnights, which is up one spot to #6 (#7 Vinyl) and now spending it's one-year chart anniversary not only within the Top 100 but also within the Top 10 (it's only ever dropped as low at #10 on the 6th and 13th of March). Taylor also rises back up with Lover (11 to #8, WI10-31), her next-Friday-issued redone 1989 (10 to #9, WI10-94) and lastly, folklore (12 to #10; #11 Vinyl), which now logs an accumulated total of 26 weeks within the Top 10 (half-a-year tally). 

TOP 20: 

The only one of the five Top 10 dropouts to survive another week within the Top 50 is a second-time Top 10 exit for Morgan Wallen and One Thing at a TimeI (HP-1x2, WI10-31), which drops three places to #11 after which is the first of two more rising Taylor Swift albums in Reputation (16 to 12), while also climbing four places is her Speak Now (TsV) to #16 (#13 Vinyl). 

Post Malone is now a month away from touring Australia (starting Nov. 23rd in Brisbane). His mini-best of, The Diamond Collection, jumps up nine places to land at a new peak of #13 (former peak was #14 on July 24th), while the album also racks up 26 weeks (half a year) within the chart, while the Maroon 5 Singles Collection moves back up to #20, its first Top 20 berth since March 20th (at #20). 

TOP 30: 

Taylor Swift sees two more rising albums within the Top 30, both with double-figure jumps, starting with evermore, up fifteen places to #21, followed closely by a twelve-place rise to #23 for her Red (TsV) (#17 Vinyl). Also scoring two entries within this chart section is Luke Combs, with his three Top 50 entries all moving back up one spot; This One's for You (#17), then Gettin' Old (#27) and What You See Ain't Always What You Get (#27). The only declining album within the Top 30 is the Barbie soundtrack, down four places to #25, but it could rebound next week thanks to a new Best Weekend Ever Edition of the set issued on Friday (Oct. 20th), featuring two extra tracks.

TOP 40: 

Nine of the ten albums within the Top 40 are all rising sets (the other is a new entry at #31), with four place jumps for Best Of sets for both Creedence Clearwater Revival and Green Day to #34 and #36 respectively, with classic sets for both Kanye West and Graduation plus Teenage Dream by Katy Perry also up four to #33 and #35. Morgan Wallen's Dangerous: The Double Album jumps up six to #38, Eminem's Curtain Call 2 moves back up seven to #40 and there's an eight-place jump to #37 for the Metro Boomin' set Heroes & Villains.

TOP 50: 

Taylor Swift sees her final Top 50 entry this week jump up fourteen places to land at #44 for her Fearless (TsV), while five place jumps occur for both Lana Del Rey and Born To Die (#46) and after its first-ever week outside of the Top 50 last week the Billie Eilish debut set When We All Fall Asleep... (52 to #48) rises back up, which is followed by a third stable week at #49 for Harry Styles' Fine Line. The four other Top 10 dropouts for this week see massive declines, with the only other survivor being the NCT 127 album Fact Check (9 to #96) while leaving the Top 100 are Top 10 entrants from last week for The Screaming Jets (#3), Russell Morris (#5) and Teen Jesus & The Jean Teasers (#6).

ABBA see their Studio Albums collection crack one year on the chart this week, as it sits at #60, while lead singer Agnetha Faltskog returns to the chart at #94 with an expanded edition of her 2013 album A, now known as A+ (#12 Vinyl). Two other returning albums this week in the lower fifty see Pink Floyd and their 1973 classic The Dark Side of the Moon return at #52 (#14 Vinyl), with the album now surpassing its original 141 weeks on the AMR/Kent charts, and ARIA now has it logging it's 142nd chart week. The Baby Animals’ second album, Shaved & Dangerous, returns at #55 thanks to its 30th Anniversary Edition also taking out the #2 Vinyl slot this week.

*#43 (LP#16) - Bootleg Melancholy - Diesel (Bloodlines) (#6 Vinyl) is the sixteenth studio album for the local artist, with this new entry now becoming his eighteenth chart entry (made up of 15 studio, 1 Live, 1 EP and 1 Best of Albums), with this new set now his third to chart this decade after Sunset Suburbia (HP-10, Sept. 2020) and Alone with Blues (HP-20, July 2021).
