Billie Eilish Holds On To #1 Spot On ARIA Singles Chart

The Barbie track for Billie Eilish What Was I Made for? holds for a second week at #1 in Australia.

...Made for? now matches the two weeks that Billie Eilish held with her previous #1 hit here Bad Guy, while if it holds again next week it will become her longest running #1 locally, with more on that potential competition to next week's top-spot down at #5 this week. The highest charting of the three top five entries from the Mattel movie Barbie is also holding at #1 in Ireland, where half of their top ten is made up of Barbie soundtrack entries. Here we see Dua Lipa rise one spot to a new peak of #3 with Dance the Night, while it swaps places with Barbie World by Nicki Minaj, Ice Spice and Aqua, which drops to #4 after two weeks of playing at #3. England has Billie at #2, Dua Lipa at #3 and Nicki at #5, while in Ireland it's Billie at #1, Dua at #2, then Nicki at #6, Speed Racer for Charli XCX at #7 and Ryan Gosling with I'm Just Ken (16 to #10). The album from the movie is also at #2 this week in Australia, New Zealand and Canada and #4 in The U.S.A.

Holding for a tenth straight week at #1 in England and a ninth broken week in New Zealand is Sprinter for Dave and Central Cee, while locally the song remains at #2, logging it's third non-consecutive week in that position, while the other seven weeks of it's chart-run were spent at #1. The third and final non-mover within the top ten this week is at #5, vampire for Olivia Rodrigo, which was supposed to fall to #6 this week (it has so far moved 1-2-3-4-5), but alas it stalls at #5, and Olivia has just issued a new song on Friday, the rocking-melodic bad idea right?, which could fly into the chart next week (or give her another #1, which would be a new chart-feat in itself). 

The second swap-around within the top ten this week is at #6 and #7, as Taylor Swift is back up one spot to #6 with Cruel Summer, while down one spot to #7 is Last Night for Morgan Wallen, which loses the top spot in Canada this week to new Travis Scott music, but it regains the #1 slot in The U.S.A. for a 15th overall stay as their top-selling song. Moving up one place each are Gunna with FukUMean and Fast Car for Luke Combs to #8 and #9 respectively, while Lukes cover track cracks the New Zealand top ten for the first time after 18 weeks of charting, it jumps 22 to #10 this week (former NZ peak #14 in July), while the song also scores a new peak in England (#45) and is at #2 in The U.S.A. and #3 in Canada. 

The highest new entry for the week is the second new song from Doja Cat from her forthcoming fourth album (no title or date known as yet), entering at #10 is Paint the Town Red, which follows on from Attention (HP-30, June 26th 2023), and becomes her twenty-second Top 100 entry (17 as lead, 4 as guest), 17th Top 50 placement, plus her sixth Top 10 entry (five as lead, one as guest). The song samples the second ever chart entry here for Dionne Warwick called Walk on By (HP-28, peaked June 1964), which has also been a smaller hit locally for Gloria Gaynor (only in Perth #39) Jo Jo Zep (minus The Falcons) (HP-55, peaked late February 1983), and most recently by Seal (HP-94, March 2005). 

TOP 20: 

NEW PEAKS: Regaining its former #11 peak is the track Popular for The Weeknd, Playboi Carti and Madonna, previously sitting in this position on July 24th and 31st, while one of last week's new entries for Travis Scott in Telekinesis featuring SZA and Future is this week up eleven places to land at #19, while Travis has a second top twenty placement in last week's highest new entry Meltdown (feat. Drake), which drops down five places to #13 this week and it debuted at the top in Canada this past week. 

With the evacuation from the Top 50 of ten of the fourteen Travis Scott entries from last week, the majority of songs climb back up this week, starting with three place rebounds for both Daylight by David Kushner (15 to #12) and Flowers by Miley Cyrus (17 to #14), while five place climbs occur for Calm Down for Rema and Selena Gomez (23 to #18) and Anti-Hero by Taylor Swift (25 to #20) and a six place jump back up for Something in the Orange by Zach Bryan (HP-13; 21 to #15). The only two other declining tracks this week are Seven by JungKook (14 to #16) and Chemical for Post Malone (13 to #17). 

TOP 30: 

NEW PEAK: goes to Charli XCX and her Barbie soundtrack entry Speed Drive, which only motor's up two places to a new peak of #22, and is the smallest of the nine climbing tracks within the top thirty this week. Five place jumps occur for both Kill Bill by SZA (26 to #21) and Die for You by The Weeknd and Ariana Grande (28 to #23), while OneRepublic see a six place rise back up to #26 with their Top Gun 2 entry I Ain't Worried. Boy's a Liar (pt.2) for PinkPantheress and IceSpice is back up seven to #24, there's an eight place rebound to #25 for Harry Styles' As it Was, with a nine-spot move occuring for Karma by Taylor Swift (36 to #27), while the only drop sees a thirteen place fall for the Travis Scott entry from last week FE!N, down to #29 this week. 

Last week Riptide by Vance Joy (TW-43 to #30) scored it's three-chart-year badge (156 weeks), which has accumulated over the past ten years of charting, while this week another song which rebounds thirteen places also scores it's three-year (156 weeks) chart anniversary, Heat Waves by Glass Animals (TW-41 to #28), but this figure has accumulated from almost continual charting, as the song first charted this week in 2020 (August 17th), only falling out of the Top 100 for one week on October 12th, 2020, later hitting #1 in early 2021 and becoming the top selling song for that year, followed by the second highest selling track in 2022. 

TOP 40: 

No new peaks here, but eight of the ten top forty entries all rise back up, starting with Super Shy by NewJeans (35 to #31) and Rush by Troye Sivan (38 to #32). Nine place jumps occur for both Someone You Loved by Lewis Capaldi (42 to #33) and Creepin' for Metro Boomin' (46 to #37). Back up ten spots to #35 is Calvin and Ellie's Miracle track, Luke Combs' sees The Kind of Love We Make fly back up thirteen places to #34 (NZ debut at #40), there's a fourteen place jump for All My Life by Lil' Durk with J. Cole (50 to #36), while Taylor Swift brings back her Style track, rising fifteen places to #38. The fourth and final Top 50 entry this week for Travis Scott is I Know ?, which falls down nineteen places to land at #39 this week. 

TOP 50: 

NEW PEAK: The debut entry for South Korean born and Berlin, Germany based DJ and producer Peggy Gou (born Kim Min-ji) called (It Goes Like) Nanana flies up nineteen places to land at #41, after charting 74-60 in it's first two weeks within the Top 100. The song has been the top Dance Single in the country for the past couple of weeks (and again this week), while the track has also placed at #1 in The Netherlands, Greece, Latvia and Belgium, with Top 10 placements in Lithuania (#2), Ireland and Lebanon (both #3), England (#5) and Bulgaria (#7).

The further nine Top 50 entries are all moving back up this week, the smallest of which is a two place move to #42 for Escapism. by RAYE and 070 Shake, with only a seven place climb back to spin-a-web at #44 for Post Malone's Sunflower track. Back up nine places each are Sure Thing by Miguel (55 to #46) and Shivers by Ed Sheeran (59 to #50), with a ten place top-fifty return for Mr. Brightside by The Killers (57 to #47) becoming its twelfth Top 50 return during it's chart career, surpassing the previous record-holder of eleven returns for Mariah's xmas tune. 

Two eleven place jumps occur for both Until I Found You for Stephen Sanchez (54 to #43) and Blank Space for Taylor Swift (56 to #45), while twenty-or-more moves sees Luke Combs rebound twenty-two spots to #48 with When it Rains it Pours, while rebounding twenty places to #49 is the J. Cole track No Role Modelz, which is seeing a seventh Top 50 return.
