West Thebarton Brothel Party's Zen, Offensive & Party-Fuelled Aussie Tour

"The abundance of forestry and coastlines paid serious visual dividends."

At the start of September, we embarked on the Four More Years tour in support of our shiny, new Red Or White/Dolewave 7". Having only played a handful of shows as the complete seven-piece in 2016, it's safe to say we were excited to head back to the East Coast and play cities we've never visited as a band.
We kicked off the tour with two shows that harked back to our bread and butter days of playing beat up rooms on floor level with the PA maxing out.

WOLLONGONG

Wollongong reminds me of Perth but in Newcastle. Maybe it's Newcastle in Perth. I've probably offended all three cities in the process but either way it's a great, humble place with gorgeous surroundings and home to the mighty Rad.

The venue only holds about 80 people but you'd hardly notice with its bangin' band room and crew of hospitable legends. Archy Punker and Ugly Mundays made us feel right at home and even provided an excess of amps for us to choose from. Bless 'em.

SYDNEY

We caught the train back up to Sydney which proved to be a zen-like experience for a bunch of weary musos from Adelaide. The abundance of forestry and coastlines paid serious visual dividends.

Sydney has been a kind older brother to West Theb and this weekend was no exception. We played the Junkyard Festival stage at Duke Hotel as part of the annual King Street Crawl. King Street Crawl reminds me of our own multi-venue festival at home (A Day of Clarity) but much weirder and with less doom metal.

This was the first time we'd ever used practice amps for a live show and it sounded pretty fucking good. Shout out to Perry, the best sound guy ever. I was stoked to finally catch Pinheads and Mesa Cosa (two of the best garage bands going round) playing on the same stage as us. Wouldn't that be a hell of a tour?

After those sets, we dropped past The Townie and The Marly to catch our mates SCABZ and Green Buzzard. Burning out hard in the process, an early night would to prove to be a good move ahead of a big week at BIGSOUND.
