The latest clip from Brisbane artist Tien Cortez, I Don’t Want To Be Your Friend, was shot during iso, utilising nothing more than a phone, one wig, some hair extensions and “minimal amounts of cellophane”.

“The video was shot over a weekend completely on my phone with a gimbal stabiliser and it was filmed by my roommate with whatever we had lying around the house,” Cortez told The Music of the new video, produced and filmed by Caley Wheeler.

“The sunroom in our house was empty at the time so we used that space along with our humble backyard to film everything for the setting - naturally, to abide by all social distancing laws.

“We achieved a lot of the lighting by covering a work light with cellophane, and Caley sewed the wig on to the bear in just five minutes. We went through a rigorous casting process but Conchita shined the most out of all the bears in the audition. I really couldn’t have asked for a better co-star.

“I originally had a massive, super-expensive video idea for this song that would have required a whole film crew and I’m very glad I couldn't go through with it because we still made something quite cool with what limited resources we had.

“It may not have been the big-budget video that I originally had planned, but I think our homemade situational effort turned out even better than any of us could have expected.”
