VIDEO PREMIERE: LANKS - 'The Silence'

LANKS is back with a brand new video today, premiering exclusively with The Music.

Dubbed The Silence, the track was co-written by LANKS and RYX and "tells the story of two people in a slowly disintegrating relationship. Their love for each other is so all consuming that they must break away from each other to ‘save themselves’".

"The idea was to explore what the undoing of a relationship looks like. How could we express this visually and choreographically? Sometimes an undoing of two things feels like it’s moving backwards in time," expanded producer Orit Novak. 

"Break ups can be a confusing space where we try to reorient ourselves and it can feel like we’re returning to a version of ourselves that existed before the relationship took place. The playing of footage in reverse paired with the dancers clothing themselves is the evocation of this idea. It implies that in order to come apart we must put ack on the layers we took off and re-establish our identities as individuals."

"Working on LANKS music video was a beautiful, collaborative experience from beginning to end. [Dancers] Callum and Nathan poured themselves into the creative process, co-creating all the dialogue for the piece and really focussing on the story Orit wanted to bring to life," added choreographer Alice Topp.

"Orit and I had the opportunity to work closely on how best to realise her vision through movement and discussed ways of shooting it to really amplify the relationship and story. Coming together for the shoot was the best part - seeing how beautifully the movement came to life on film and spending time with such an extraordinary, gifted bunch of creatives. 

"It was so special to be able to work in such synergy and connect after the long period of isolation with COVID-19. Such a special team! So thrilled to have been a part of the incredible experience."
