The latest solo offering from The Cat Empire legend Harry James Angus is simple yet extremely effective.

The Aussie singer-songwriter takes a close look at the concept of reality with Streetlamps and its accompanying music video, premiering today via The Music.

“We live in a layered world. I am always amazed at the ability of the human mind to choose to ignore certain realities while propping up and promoting others,” Harry James Angus told The Music.

“I guess what that means is that a true version of reality is very hard to find. Most of us are living behind the dam walls of our own subconscious. Like when you hear a rumbling in the night, and even though you know the train tracks are not built to go directly through your house, you wonder for a second, but what if my house has moved and now sits directly in the path of the oncoming train?

“Imagine it smashing through my bedroom wall. Terrifying, exciting. In the humming of the streetlamp in the small hours of the morning perhaps some truth can be perceived, if I stop, and listen. What am I pushing back into the darkness that in fact I know to be true? Dreams tell you the answer.”

Harry James Angus will perform headline shows in Melbourne in Sydney in the coming weeks ahead of his appearance at Woodford Folk Festival in late December.
