Melbourne alternative outfit Grand Pine have today shared the video for their track Hold Me Down, the first taste of their debut album of the same name.

The clip, directed by band member and songwriter Mike Ridley, is a majestic experience to behold.

"Coming up with the concept for this clip was interesting because the song is quite dramatic and serious in tone, and we knew we wanted the video to match that, but in a way that didn't take itself too seriously," he explained.

"We wanted to have fun with it, so after going through a few ideas, we landed on having Guy Perkins (lead singer in the band) be a wizard fanatic going to a high school reunion barbecue with myself, Pelaya Arapakis, Connor Black-Harry, and a few of our friends who came down to be extras on the day. Filming on the day felt just like having a summer barbecue in the park with an elaborate wizard costume.

"Tom Dunphy did a great job with the cinematography for the clip, and I spent way longer than I should have in the editing room making the fireballs come to life. Super grateful to everyone that helped make this wacky idea a reality, definitely one of the funniest clips I've worked on to date, and I'm excited for people to see it!"
