The latest offering from All India Radio, the project from Hobart soundscape wizard Martin Kennedy, is a stunning animated music video.

Premiering today via The Music, the new clip for Deep Blue was animated and directed by Queensland-based animator Helena Papageorgiou, who has previously worked on animations and projections for Splendour In The Grass, Laneway Festival, Groovin The Moo and more.

"Deep Blue naturally lends itself to some beautiful natural rhythms of the sea and I set out to compliment this using the stylistic overlaps of Moebius, Fantastic Planet, Hieronymus Bosch with a drop of Codex Seraphinianus thrown in,” Papageorgiou told The Music.

“There is something enigmatic about this track that made me want to create a loose storyline consisting of this ‘being’ which returns to the sea and awakening past relics as we traverse through.

“This gives it this mysterious and slightly unnerving feel of expectation but simultaneously being lulled by the pulsing tempo of the watery depth.”

Kennedy added: "I love sci-fi and fantasy and Helena has perfectly captured the spirit of animation greats Hayao Miyazaki (Spirited Away, Howl's Moving Castle) and René Laloux, director of the exceptionally trippy 1973 animated classic Fantastic Planet, all of which suits the mood of my song to a tee."
