The Cairos' Tour Diary Part 3

The Return Of The Jedi/King

Thursday 19 July
This morning we woke at 4 am to get ready to embark on our final installment, the end, the last leg. Driving into Adelaide is like going to a friend that you don't get to see too often, someone who might have pissed you off before, but the memories are too powerful to stop you from getting blind drunk and sharing a few yarns. After all the dull duties of soundcheck, line check, kick check, amp check, grab the cheque, we began our 'journey to the end of the night' which involved a raucous set from openers Messrs, an Adelaide first for the preachers who made a few new friends along the way and our set, which involved a vocal duet with the lovely josh from Messrs singing our song Self Control.

We drank, we thanked, took the cash and banked, made our way through Hindley St, ate plenty of kebabs, watched Jacob and Reuben having a dance off, and after all this excitement Ali had a wet dream.

Sorry sad faces in the morning of the day after the night before. We've grown nostalgic towards Wicked Campers and as we packed our car in our sorry state, the preachers loaded into their brand new Lamborghini million dollar people mover designed for only the specialist and special, or something like that. They paid half the price we did, so Sammy t (tour manager) next time, step up son.

Wicked Campers

I don't recall the sun ever shining in ballarat, yet we stayed with our good friends Hunting Grounds and the sun may well have just been shining out of their eyeballs they were so accommodating, even if they are now really far too famous for a bunch of us simple Nebraska boys. The show at Karova Lounge involved a stage dive from Dan (of Hunting Grounds) who took on the mic time after time and a few too many noodles (and far too many beers) for Reuben meant dinner would be tasted a second time (in his sleep).

After Reuben turned up to breakfast with noodles for hair on this crisp Ballarat morning, we hit the frog and toad to Melbourne. And... after Jacob had mistakenly typed in 'Melbourne' instead of Northcote we finally made it just in time for soundcheck! Tonight's rider was by far the most impressive we've ever had, scotch and ciders and beers, and thanks to Ali's cousin Dayne, it was all finished by the time we went upstairs after the show. The show was insane! We had all The Preachers up on stage for a cover of Time After Time and our song We All Buy Stars and then we busted out Bette Davis Eyes for an encore! Apart from Reuben's chagrin "I don't want to be no cover band" we all had the greatest of nights and shared Alfio's birthday on stage!

The End

And so there it was, our first proper headline tour. Friendships were made, bonds were broken as well as coffee tables, sirens were sounded, dreams became reality, chickens became schnitzel and boys became slightly older boys. For now, we can't wait to record our first album and do it all again!
