"Believe in the fundamental goodness and kindness of humanity."

More The Maes More The Maes

Sister duo Maggie and Elsie Rigby, aka The Maes (formerly The Mae Trio), encourage mutual respect in relationships with their latest single, Treat You Better.

It’s the first taste of the Melbourne contemporary folk outfit’s new album and features a cappella harmonies, banjo plucking and more.

“I wrote Treat You Better about the vicious cycle of believing that people will mistreat you and behaving badly towards others as a result,” Maggie Rigby told The Music.

“The song is about subverting that cycle and choosing to believe in the fundamental goodness and kindness of humanity as an act of faith and defiance.”

The Maes' forthcoming self-titled LP will drop on May 3 in the midst of an extensive Australian tour.
