The emergent Sydney outfit offer up another delightful serve of blissful, glossy guitar-pop ahead of their debut extended player.

More Sunscreen More Sunscreen

Sydney's Sunscreen are gearing up for the release of their debut EP, Just A Drop — a split release between up-and-coming label Dinosaur City Records and stalwart indie powerhouse Spunk Records — next month, and have unveiled another excellent piece of work with their glossy new single, Tide.

Floating through, buoyed by the stunning, synergetic dual vocals of Sarah Sykes (FLOWERTRUCK) and Alexander McDonald, Tide follows on from April's debut single Voices in demonstrating the group's formidable guitar-pop chops, teaming undulating riffs with mellifluous melodies and easy-listening accessibility perfect for lazy afternoons, city commutes and group hangs alike.

As in the vocal delivery, the song's conceptual origins lie with both Sykes and McDonald, the latter having come up with the central riff and chorus, fuelled by "too much coffee and … The Go-Betweens", and the former adding lyrics during a rehearsal, inspired by the melancholy experience of facing a new day, unsure of what to do or where to go, after the exhilaration of a night out.

Sunscreen will release their debut EP through Spunk Records/Dinosaur City Records on Friday 10 November. You can hear both of their present singles — as well as their very first tune, Now I've Got Your Heartvia their Bandcamp page

Tide will also be released for streaming/download on Spotify, Apple Music and all other good digital outlets from tomorrow, 27 October.

Either side of their EP release, the band are going to be hitting several stages around and near Sydney, starting off with a show supporting DMA's at Paddington Town Hall on Wednesday 1 November. They have additional support dates that month with RVG and FRITZ; come Friday 1 December, they'll be launching their EP at Botany View Hotel.

They round out December with two more shows — one with Vacations, at The Lock Up, in Newcastle, and another EP launch/Christmas show in Brisbane, with local faves Sweater Curse, on Friday 22 December.
