Shangrila guitarist Jackson Macleod wanted the band’s latest alt-rock single to be “bursting at the seams with energy and emotion”, something Fade Away achieves with its soaring melodies and huge sound.

It’s the first new music from the Perth outfit since 2018’s Love And Leaving EP, and tackles anxiety and depression.

“This song touches on issues that all people go through in this life, we want people to know that they are not alone and we are all on this journey together,” Macleod told The Music.

Vocalist Devyn Jupp added: “Fade Away was written about certain struggles involved with people suffering from anxiety/depression and how much having someone to confide in and support you can make such a big difference.”

Shangrila will give Fade Away a hometown launch at Lucy’s Love Shack on August 31, all the details of which you can find in theGuide.
