SINGLE PREMIERE: Car Park Social – ‘Blind’

While writing Car Park Social’s latest tune, Blind, frontman Daniel Seinor was listening to a lot of Foals’ What Went Down.

“There are parts within songs from that album which include some really striking dynamic changes – big builds and falls – and I wanted to try and incorporate some of that into this song,” Seinor said.

The new song, premiering today via The Music, is also influenced by “older Pearl Jam records (around the Yield era)”, specifically its “dreamy bridge” and “the punchy guitar solo”.

“Lyrically, Blind has been driven by uncertainty around climate change, in a way questioning society’s understanding of the topic, given that there’s so much potentially misleading information provided,” he added.

Lead guitarist Paul Ricciardo told The Music that when they first jammed the track, they “knew it had some solid potential”.

“Dan’s lyrics were strong: based around changing climate and apprehension in the world. We have tried to make the music match. It is at times happy, sad, intense, rapidly changing and evolving,” he said.
