More Amy Vee More Amy Vee

Seasoned Aussie singer-songwriter Amy Vee takes a bold new direction with her latest single, Red Desert Heart.

The new cut – premiered today via The Music - sees the artist pair her trademark folk lyrical style against electronic soundscapes, resulting in epic choruses and uplifting melodies.

“It’s a call to action to step out of your comfort zone and lose yourself in order to find yourself,” Vee said.

“In the early demo versions I always felt it loaned itself to some rich instrumentation and big wide-open sound – something to represent that sense of freedom.”

The song came together at Sydney’s Studios 301 after the Vee beat out over 900 entries nationally to be awarded two free days of recording, with Red Desert Heart one of the first tunes recorded at the studio following a recent multi-million dollar rebuild.

“Thematically, the song is an attempt to distill that feeling you get when you switch off from the modern world and get back to the things that make you fundamentally happy,” Vee said.

“So much of my creative output come from experiencing new places, especially natural environments."

Red Desert Heart is out tomorrow and taken from Vee’s forthcoming second album.

Fans can expect a new music video next month too, documenting her time at Studios 301.
