Launch Pad: Shock Octopus

Give a brief rundown of the history of your act from day one to now: Shock Octopus formed in 2010 as an alternative-rock four piece and has since been described as a '90s version of Talking Heads. We launched our first single Safe Room at the ill-fated Manhattans Bar in 2011 and have been working on the EP ever since.

Tell us about your release: Simply entitled EP, the five-track disc is an oceanic panorama of odd time signatures, electrifying vocal harmonies and fuzz explosions.

How did you go about recording it? We spent a few days at Bergerk! Studios at the tail end of last year. The songs were all finished, it was just a matter of laying down the tracks and stuffing our faces with vegan food during the downtime. Yum!

Tell us about your launch party: Support comes from Michael Strong's new superband The Dissappointed, our good friends Head Full Of Steam and The Foxman from RTRFM Soulsides.

What's next for your act? We're all pretty eager to head over east for some shows this year. Maybe another release on vinyl?
