PREMIERE: The Comfort - Love EP

More The Comfort More The Comfort

Brisbane-bred alt-rock two-piece The Comfort are on the cusp of releasing their second EP, Love, at the end of the week, and The Music is stoked to premiere the six-track extended player before they let it loose proper.

From the get-go, the anthemic force and underlying optimism of the EP's songs are worn proudly, opening cut Everstone setting the tone and evoking the fist-pumpin', yelly goodness of early-2000s Sparta and Boysetsfire, with hopeful skyward-bound glances and echo-chamber guitars turned way the heck up. It's a release not shy on notable moments, either; atmospheric midpoint Dysphasia demonstrates the band's ability to pull off more than one emotive trick, while recent single Your Heart is chest-clutchingly melodramatic in the best possible sense.

Love follows on from The Comfort's debut EP Ghost — which itself yielded a pair of successful singles in the form of Fair-Weather and Tongues (Masenko), and is much a philosophical shift for the band as it is a musical one as the band move towards a more optimistic underpinning first hinted at on between-EPs-single Roses

Love will be released this Friday, 16 September. Pre-orders are available now

The Comfort will launch the EP with a show at Phoenix Arts Theatre, Brisbane, on Saturday 24 September.

Although they're yet to be announced, the band will no doubt be making plans to slot in some tour dates in the near future as they prepare to support their new work and continue their trajectory further into the spotlight. To follow them on the journey, head to their Facebook page.
