More Five Island Drive More Five Island Drive

Following on from their stellar debut release ‘The Record’, Sydney-based heavy-wave group FiveIsland Drive have followed up with their hard-hitting new single ‘Spite Suicide’ featuring Faintly Rumoured – produced by the band themselves.

This song starts off quite a bit heavier than the first single 'The Record'. Compiling the same individual sound that pulls influence from all different genres, this track will keep you on the edge of your seat! RnB, Metalcore, Nu Metal & even pop influences! 'Spite Suicide' is incredibly catchy & packs a lot of punch into its 3:30. The video has been beautifully filmed & produced as well. It's quite honestly shocking to believe this is only the band's second track. Bring on the rest!

Vocalist Frankie Jean talks about the meaning behind ‘Spite Suicide’:

“’Spite Suicide’ is a song inspired metaphorically by the White Rose (Weiße Rose) movement (in particular Sophie Scholl) and written during the apex of intensity surrounding the Black Lives Matter movement in 2020, the song explores the importance of activism and allyship - not just from those who are affected by a particular issue, but action from those who aren't directly impacted as a means to enact real change.

As a trans woman, I wanted to frame the story around my gender affirming journey to date as we explore the concepts of both allyship and self-allyship in that space, particularly as it’s so relevant to my story right now.”
