More Babaganouj More Babaganouj

Brissy indie-pop-rock crew Babaganouj have set themselves the ambitious goal of releasing three EPs this year and, with a third of the 2016 calendar behind us, they're presently on track, having just released first effort Pillar Of Light as of this Friday gone.

Among the delights found on the four-track EP is Do Rite With Me Tonite, a jangly, sparkling little dual-vox ditty that puts 'Nouj's talents for intelligent, infectious pop tunes right at the fore, sensationally given visual life by way of the fun new clip from director Jennifer Embelton, premiering on The Music today.

"I wanted the video to celebrate the nostalgic days of friendship— where life was simple and the weekends long when you were hanging with your mates," Embelton said. "The retro bowling alley was the perfect location filled with kitschy decor and coloured with '90s pastels that have become synonymous with Babaganouj's aesthetic."

The clip was shot at stalwart local lanes Aspley Ten Pin Bowls, and if you can make it through its near-four-minute runtime without being overcome by throwback emotions about countless weekend birthday parties spent abusing Bumper bars and rocking the world's least comfortable shoes, then you were robbed of an essential rite of passage. But hey — at least Babaganouj are here to help recreate the moments you missed out on.

The band are presently on the road in support of the new EP, having knocked over shos in Sydney, Melbourne and Toowoomba over the weekend; they're next at The Helm, on the Sunshine Coast, this Friday, 29 April, backing up on 30 April to play Minimum Wage Club at the Shark Bar, Gold Coast (both performances are supported by Good Boy).

From there, the band are back in Brissy to wrap up their tour with a home-town show at Black Bear Lodge on Friday 6 May. For more booking information, see Babaganouj's Facebook page.
