"A huge impetus for releasing an EP was giving me, Tom, Brendy and Dion more reasons to hang out, make music and play some shows."

More Palms More Palms

Sydney group Palms share their new EP - Intensity Sunshine - today, premiering exclusively with The Music

The EP has been a longtime in the making for the group and has seen them work with the likes of DZ Deathrays' Shane Parsons and Liam Judson (Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever, Cloud Control) along the way.

"Intensity Sunshine was weirdly a long time coming but a short time in the making," the band's Alex Grigg told The Music

"While it’s been over five years since our last record, this one was largely written over one glorious week of sunshine in January 2019.

"I guess it’s super special to me 'cos I always thought my creativity came from being sort of dissatisfied or whatever and I was kind of unsure of whether I’d be able to write anything now I was bordering on something like contentment. Intensity Sunshine showed me it was possible. And hopefully without sounding too sappy.

"There’s songs on there about love, coming out, the climate crisis and impending doom, and also friendship and growing up. Friendship is a big part of it actually. A huge impetus for releasing an EP was giving me, Tom, Brendy and Dion more reasons to hang out, make music and play some shows. Our friendship’s too cute to stop just yet!"
