Atlas Harwood (bass): “I moved to London for work around the same time Marty and Jon were passively looking for someone to join their non-existent band. After a few apple and mint sheeshas Gazar Strips were formed.”

“Whitechapel psychedelic bat cave.”

If you could support any band in the world – past or present – who would it be?
“Virgin Prunes. In Ireland somewhere. Guinness rider.”

“The Go-Betweens – 16 Lovers Lane.”

Greatest rock'n'roll moment of your career to date?
“Playing at our ex-local with a view of the East London Mosque during Ramadan and having thousands of worshippers pour out into the street during our set.”

Why should people come and see your band?
“Because we're carbon neutral.”
