The event: Grass Roots Music Festival

Why should punters visit you?: After a long winter, it's time to shake out the cobwebs and dance in the sun. Like a mini-Woodford, this all-ages free festival brings you the best of local blues, folk, and alt.country. Family-friendly, too!

What’s the history of the event?: Founded as a TAFE assignment, 11 years onward, this is Brisbane's favourite spring party with the best roots music talent.

Any advice for first timers who want to visit the event?: Definitely bring: hat, sunscreen, sunnies (see a theme here? ha ha), picnic blanket, picnic, and most importantly, all your mates! Dancing on the grass is fun. We'll have refreshments and tasty snacks for sale.

Do you have any plans for the event in the future?: Ringing in the spring on Brisbane's most beautiful mountain, getting fresh ears for local original songwriters, & hope to keep the party going for at least another eleven years. The best part? Highlighting each year's new crop of talent.

When and where for your next event?: Sunday, 1 November, from 11 am to 5 pm at the Mount Coot-tha Botanical Gardens bandstand. Buses 471, 598, 599.
