Glacier

“We bonded extensively over our love for different post-rock bands (Explosions In The Sky, Sigur Ros, Mogwai, Tortoise, etc.) and eventually just decided that we should give it a go ourselves,” Martin explains, recalling the three Brisbane friends taking their relationship to the musical level. “We love listening to post-rock, so we figured we'd love playing it too. I know personally I had been looking to start a project like this for a few months before Glacier took shape, and we all had bits and pieces to bring to the table in the first jam.”

The trio, completed by multi-instrumentalists Brady Clarke and Denis Semchenko, have only played one show but are already generating solid buzz locally with thick compositions and wide-reaching musicianship. Martin discusses their release planned for later in the year.

“Things have come together fairly quickly for us and we're always looking to expand and improve on our material. There are some tracks such as Sliding where we are looking to add a few more layers through the use of looping pedals, which will obviously be a bit easier in the recording process than it is playing live. We'd love to find an accordion player to add some atmosphere to Song For A French Film. We're also looking into some more percussion options in addition to the standard drum kit. I imagine things will sound a bit different when we get around to recording, because at the moment we only have so many hands between us! It's fun and interesting to see how much noise we can control between the three of us – we really get to push ourselves.”
