"They have swapped many an album for a block of Cheddar."

In the lead up to the Byron Bay Bluesfest we spoke to some of the 200 artists who will be performing over the five day festival, which kicks off on 24 Mar. We found out five fun and wacky things about Marshall Okell:

  1. He streams the World Surfing League and will go to any length to watch it on tour, he's totally hooked!
  2. The band plays Disc Golf on tour, they all have their own set of Frisbees and stop in some beautiful and sometimes crazy locations. "It keeps us fit, what a game!"
  3. Okell drank so much Drambuie in a snow season of gigs that the local distributer was quoted saying "I've sold more Drambuie this year than I have in the last seven."
  4. They like visiting and tasting groovy cheese, and are always stopping at cheese factories on the road — they have swapped many an album for a block of Cheddar.
  5. He sits up after gigs watching Mavis Staples videos completely losing it — mega Mavis Staples Fan. "The Mavis show a few years ago at Bluesfest still to this day is the best musical experience I have been a part of, heard, danced to, cried to, it changed me for life, everyday."
