Sydney indie rocker Jimmy Heathwood’s new project Bronte Public Housing came about through chance.

The singer-songwriter set out to write new music for Hiaground, of which he fronts, and instead, the Another Road EP was conceived.

“The EP was intended to be purely acoustic, as I envisioned creating something completely different to Hiaground,” Heathwood told The Music.

“When in the studio however Oscar Sharah (Mel Blue, Mesmeriser) and I got carried away and couldn't help putting a band to all the songs.

Heathwood describes the collection of songs as “very introspective and self-reflective”.

“The EP is very raw; each song was fully recorded in a couple of hours - to make sure the first EP is an insight into the project in its truest form.

“Bronte Public Housing became a place where I can truly express myself artistically. I wanted to be as sincere and honest as possible… I believe that to be a true artist, one that influences and touches hearts around the world, you must be as true to yourself in the art as possible. BPH is my place to do this.”
