Be Gentle With Yourself

I’ve struggled with unrealistic expectations of myself for as long as I can remember. A lot of the tracks on the record are a soft reminder that I’m not perfect, and that’s ok.

Hold Your Own Hand

Learning to be content in your own company is a big theme across the record. I’ve always been a big advocate for reaching out to your support network when things get tough, but I think it’s nice to be able to rely on yourself in that way sometimes too. Country Song and Altar speak to this and the magic that can arise when you develop a stronger relationship with yourself.

Lean Into The Wind

I’ve always found wind to be really uncomfortable and stressful. In the tracks Poison and Magic, I explore the idea that sometimes you have no choice but to lean into the discomforts that life brings and push on through.  I borrowed this phrase from a Townes Van Zandt song where he sings, “I’d to lean into the wind and tell myself I’m free”. I would also like this.

Take A Sip, You Deserve It

Life is so strange and fleeting and beautiful. My writing has often moved through the tension that arises from this reality and almost always lands in the same conclusion: to relax, love and laugh as hard as you can when it is available to you.
