More Guard More Guard

Guard is shares his new album today, premiering with The Music

Dubbed The Identified Patient, the album is the debut LP for the South African born, Melbourne based artist.

"Due to unresolved trauma, I became a product of my feelings. Completely ruled by emotion & constantly falling into codependent relationships," said Guard of the album.

"I was acting from a point of self-destruction & deprecation, yet would be completely surprised when I found myself broken once again. It was by design. The album cover is a reminder to me of who I don’t want to be anymore. I don’t want to be a product of my trauma, I want to make rational, healthy choices that stem from a place of self-compassion, not fear.

"Conceptually inspired by Damien Hirst’s work, I am exploring the addition of psychotropic medication & how in some cases, this can be a distraction from the real underlying issues. Visually inspired by the works of Julia SH and Nic Sadler & their series Fresh Meat, I wanted to explore the duality of life/death, of beauty and pain.
