"[T]his album was more of a slow simmer compared to the first one."

More Dumb Things More Dumb Things

Brisbane's Dumb Things will release their second record, Time Again, tomorrow via Coolin' By Sound and we here at theMusic.com.au jumped at the opportunity to premiere the album.

With the band initially coming together following a fateful trip to China, they set out to make “the best record [they] possibly could” this time around.

"The writing for Time Again started straight after finishing our first record," guitarist and vocalist Adam Vincent told The Music

"Around the time of finishing and then releasing that album, we were playing together a lot and had a lot of new songs and ideas kicking around.

"We initially went in and recorded eight songs, later returning to do another eight, slowly chipping away whenever we were all free, for about a year. We then cut it down to the ten songs we thought were the best and fit together most cohesively. As a result of this process, this album was more of a slow simmer compared to the first one.

"Cam Smith took on the recording/mixing/mastering and without him it wouldn’t be half as good. He also got to pull out his old accordion on the song, Fade Away. We owe Cam a huge debt, not just because of his fantastic ear but also his enduring patience."
