Album title? Carry

Where did the title of your new album come from? The album material deals with the big life-changing experiences that I’ve experienced in the past few years. To support and be supported – carried – is an underlying sentiment on the album.

How many releases do you have now? This is our third release to follow our debut album Means What It Means.

How long did it take to write/record? Three years to write, three months to arrange and three days to record. We were lucky enough to record completely live at Studio 301 with Andrew Edgson.

Was anything in particular inspiring you during the making? I find a lot of catharsis in songwriting and I tried to honestly capture what I feel is our common everyday journey through sickness, sadness and loss.

What’s your favourite song on it? Which son does a mother love the most? They’re all really special in their own way.

Will you do anything differently next time? This turned out surprisingly, spectacularly well. We spent months laboriously making sure every note was in its place and then recorded it perfectly live. So no – not one thing.

When and where is your launch/next gig? Saturday 6 Sep at Street Theatre, Canberra with Kira Puru and National Poetry Slam Champion CJ Bowerbird.
