Album title? Home

Where did the title of your new album come from? I’ve spent most of the last five years either touring or working in Southern Afghanistan. Now I’m home – the domestic frontier is not without its challenges.

How long did it take to write/record? I started recording with Shane O’Mara in November 2012 and finished it last month. Most of the songs are new but others I have been saving up for a more personal album like this.

Was anything in particular inspiring you during the making? We’ve all got a certain amount of restlessness to face down or accommodate before settling down to build a life. The transition can be involved, but pleasurable if you can pull it off.

Will you do anything differently next time? No, the writing came out organically enough, the recording process was lovely and I took my time. Listeners say they like it.

When and where is your launch/next gig? Clarendon Guest House, Katoomba, 3 Oct and Camelot Lounge, Marrickville, 4 Oct.

VIC: Thornbury Theatre, 11 Oct
