In the lead up to the Byron Bay Bluesfest we spoke to some of the 200 artists who will be performing over the three day festival, which kicks off on 24 Mar. We found out ten fun and wacky things about Melissa Etheridge from the Bluesfest Facebook page:

  1. Bruce Springsteen has been her favourite artist to collaborate with.
  2. On Strange Road: "Strange Road is a fictional song born out of my imagination of what I might be like if I had stayed in Kansas!"
  3. Her favorite tools of the trade are her Les Paul custom and Fender Strat Ovation 12-string.
  4. On female artists: "I think we will hear more from the gals in Australia and New Zealand and Canada. That's where the real rocking women are coming from.
  5. She wants to be a guitar shredding God.
  6. She would like to have performed with Janis Joplin (we don't blame her)!
  7. The artists she doesn't want to miss: "I'm bummed Kendrick Lamar is three DAYS before me. There are some incredible artists. Check out Grace Potter!

  9. On Trump: "I sincerely believe that marriage equality is not something that can be taken away. We worked very hard for it. I think Trump says inflammatory things like that to get attention.
  10. American Vs Australian footy: "Your football makes ours look like child's play."
