Hitting your favourite venues in January and February 2023.
It’s a rainy Saturday afternoon for the first show of the Monolith Festival tour. But after being rescheduled multiple times, not even the dreary weather can stop Brisbane’s metal contingent from gathering at Eatons Hill Outdoors for what can only be described as the lineup of Australian progheads’ wildest dreams, with a few fun surprises thrown in for good measure.
We came, we saw, we worshipped. Northlane's Obsidian album tour wrapped up with a completely sold-out Tivoli show in Brisbane, and the vibe could not have been higher. This was one of those nights where the venue was full from as soon as alt. took the stage and it never let up.
A chilly Tuesday evening in Melbourne heralded the much anticipated, 4 times rescheduled performance of Sydney guitar virtuoso Plini, in support of his new album Impulse Voices. 900 punters packed into the sold-out 170 Russell to bear witness to Plini’s largest headline show of his career, and this was a night for all to remember.
WA Border closures and capacity uncertainties push Monolith Festival back to August/September 2022. Karnivool, COG, Ocean Grove, Plini, sleepmakeswaves, Reliqa & Yomi Ship remain on all dates!
Plini chats the next development of the guitar as an instrument, travelling with his own headless guitar, creating EP's, & lends advice for other players.
"I’m actually not that big into gear, to be honest. I don’t collect pedals, and an Axe-Fx just has everything I need."
Satisfying, but not entirely fulfilling.
