Wildlife + Rooms of the House = Panorama.
"It's a wide-angled lens of grief, of two people coping with grief" - Jordan Dreyer of La Dispute on their new album, 'Panorama'.
"I definitely don't consider myself to be some incredible drummer by any means, but I've always made a point to push myself." - Brad Vander Lugt.
La Dispute are band that are in no need of an introduction. Just about to release their third album, 'Rooms of the House,' for many, it's been their most anticipated release for this year already. We recently got the chance to chat to drummer Brad Vander Lugt about the album and the group's upcoming trip to Australia with Balance and Composure.
Another breathtaking release from a band who can seemingly do no wrong.
Since the release of their magnum opus, 'Wildlife', La Dispute have unwittingly captured the hearts and souls of their listeners. A fan base unceasingly devoted to a band whose lyrics are as confronting as they are involving and whose musical ability single handedly blows genre conventions out of the water. Although unusually silent on the music making front, the band have been furiously touring since 2011 and are currently touring Australia once again. Killyourstereo.com caught up with drummer Brad Vander Lugt to find out what the band are up to.
It has been three years since La Dispute released their first full length Somewhere at the Bottom of the River Between Vega and Altair and since then the band have gathered an impressive reputation. Between releases the band put out a bunch of EPs and splits while keeping up a hectic touring schedule before writing and recording their second full length, Wildlife, which dropped in early October. In the month since the release the band haven't stopped, but vocalist Jordan Dreyer took some time out to have a chat with Kill Your Stereo about the writing and recording the album, touring and heading back to Australia.
A bigger step in maturity than was probably expected.
La Dispute are already Michigan’s most interesting band and are quickly becoming the name on everybody’s lips. Their impressive and ever-expanding discography, featuring the recent split with their friends in Touche Amore, continues to turn heads and resonate with thinkers the world over. Having toured in 2009, the boys will return to Australia in early 2011 for a tour with Brisvegas’ own To The North. We caught up with La Dispute’s drummer Brad to talk Final Fantasy, abandoned houses and Tegan and Sara.
