The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame have revealed their 16 inductees for this year - and let’s just say the Class of 2024 is a doozy.

The diverse list, spanning from RnB to good old-fashioned rock, includes Cher, Ozzy Osbourne, the late Jimmy Buffett, and many more.

Cher’s award comes with a side of reservation. The legendary singer recently said some choice words about the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on Kelly Clarkson’s show.

“I’m not in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. You know what, I wouldn’t be in it now if they gave me a million dollars … I’m never going to change my mind. They can just go you-know-what themselves,” the superstar said in December last year.

2024 is the first year Cher has been nominated, and her status as an inductee will definitely be of interest to her fans now.

Another first-time nominee receiving the prestigious honour is the late Jimmy Buffett. Fast-tracked into the non-voted category for musical excellence, the yacht rock icon passed away in September last year after a long battle with skin cancer.

Other inductees include Mary J. Blige, Dave Matthews Band, Foreigner, Peter Frampton, Kool & The Gang, A Tribe Called Quest, Alexis Korner, John Mayall, Big Mama Thornton, MC5, Dionne Warwick, Norman Whitfield, and Suzanne de Passe.

The seven other nominees who missed out on the votes needed for their induction are Mariah Carey, Sade, Sinead O’Connor, Jane’s Addiction, Oasis, Lenny Kravitz, and duo Eric B & Rakim.

Liam Gallagher lashed out at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in February upon hearing about Oasis’ nomination.

Taking to X (formerly known as Twitter), the singer and guitarist wrote, “Fuck the Rock n Roll hall of fame its full of BUMBACLARTS” and later called the ceremony “a load of bollox”. Replying to a fan who asked him if he genuinely didn’t want Oasis to be inducted, Gallagher wrote that he appreciated the support but “I honestly feel there’s something very fishy about those awards”.

He also wrote, “I don’t need some wank award by some geriatric in a cowboy hat”.

This year’s induction ceremony will be on October 19 at the Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse in Cleveland, Ohio, the birthplace of the Rock Hall. The ceremony will be airing on ABC with a livestream on Disney+. If you miss it live, it’ll be available on Hulu the next day.
