A massive tour announcement this morning from the kind folks over at Frontier Touring.

On September 15th, Foo Fighters will release their ninth album, ‘Concrete and Gold’, an album we got the first taste of with the rather excellent single, 'Run'. Of course, with a band of Foo Fighters magnitude and with a brand new, much-anticipated record ready to drop, their touring schedules for the foreseeable future are all now being revealed, with an Australian and New Zealand tour being announced just this morning.

On top of Dave Grohl and co. playing all of the usual Fooey hits - both the new and old - the esteemed rockers will be joined by their pals in Weezer, who haven't been out our way since 2013 and who will be pulling out all the classics for this tour. C'mon, you know the ones!

Now, each of the five Aussie dates, as well as this tour's sole New Zealand show will also feature a local opening act, who sadly, may be playing to well under half full stadiums and arenas if we get a repeat of the last Foo Fighters tour. Hopefully, punters in each city will pull their fingers out and get down early for each respective act as there's some solid talent on offer.

For instance, over in Perth, surf punk trio Cosmic Kahuna (what a name) will warm any early going punters with their gritty punk rock attitudes and heavy metal riffs. The barely year-old Amyl and the Sniffers (which sounds far dirtier when you say it aloud), will open up the Adelaide show, bringing sweaty pub-rock to the arena stage. Catching up with their old friend Uncle Dave, DZ Deathrays will once again join the Foo's on tour, opening up their Brisbane show and will indeed be shredding out for the summer. Current Aussie rock faves, The Preatures, will open the tour's Sydney stopover at ANZ Stadium. Widely known and equally loved for their chaotic live shows, mighty Melbourne punk outfit Clowns will kick off the Etihad Stadium show, doing what they do best: intense on-stage antics. Finally, the distorted and driving Wellington punk outfit, Ayn Randy, will open the one and only New Zealand show over in Auckland.

All up, those are some very fitting opener, yet are all mostly also solid supports for such a big name tour too!
