The band has also released the first taste of this new record – ‘Slaves Beyond Death’.
On August 18th, Thy Art Is Murder will let loose the dogs of war and unveil their new record, ‘Dear Desolation‘, touted to be their darkest, heaviest release thus far.
Guitarist/main lyricist and songwriter Andy Marsh stated that this new record, which has been a long time in the making, and it’s two predecessors are a reflection of humanity’s doomed path. “Hate, War, Desolation; the trilogy series of the path mankind has laid out before himself.“ Marsh also mentioned where the on the new album’s title came from in a press release sent out today, saying: “‘Dear Desolation’ was the easiest way to sum up our new record and some of the issues we talked about. With lyrics ranging from extinction level events, to mortality’s interaction with morality, (it) seemed like an appropriate address toward nothingness, a call into the abyss, from which we might not hear an answer.”
Produced, engineered, mixed and mastered by the usual suspect – AKA Will Putney at Graphic Nature Audio in Belleville, NJ – ‘Dear Desolation‘ will display the immense Thy Art Is Murder sound that many love and hope for, and and it follows in the footsteps of 2015’s damn solid ‘Holy War‘ and 2012’s breakout monster of a full-length, ‘Hate‘. (I’d mention their ‘Infinite Death‘ EP and ‘The Adversary‘ here, but the less said about those two releases, the better).
Stream the evil and unrelenting pace of the band’s new single ‘Slaves Beyond Death‘ below. Whereas ‘No Absolution‘ was a safe bet for the band and a nice gift to the fans to mark CJ’s return, this is the real McCoy. ‘Slaves Beyond Death‘ still sounds like your usual Thy Art, now it’s just less deathcore-y, with this new track showing a better sense of groove and greater influences from classic death metal while still retaining the band’s rock-solid sonics and musical brutality. Good shit this be!
