Banjo wielding Sydney boys, Pinch Hitter have just released their debut album, When Friends Die in Accidents. The album was released independently, and features their hit track, 'Nine to Five'. You can stream the record over at Bandcamp, where you can pick up the LP in vinyl, CD and instant download form. Of the recording process, Nick Van Breda had this to say:

“During one of our writing sessions, we were somewhere between deciding whose banjo was out of tune and whose turn it was to go to the bottlo when our conversation took a rather morbid turn towards the subject of death. We were discussing how, sure, we've been to funerals of older relatives and felt the ripple hard enough to shed a tear, but neither of us have ever had "that" phone call where the world was a different place from then on in.

“‘When Friends Die In Accidents’ is the pre-emptive stirring of the grieving process for every friend we've ever had who we'll one day lose. It's an attempt to brace ourselves for the inevitable impact despite knowing such a pursuit is futile and beyond naive. It was a strange writing session to say the least. And just for the record, it was Dave’s banjo that was out of tune.”
